Youth
Boxing Program
These
are special classes specifically tailored for youth ages 11 - 17 years.
Classes
are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm-6:30pm.
To grow into healthy and
grounded secure adults youth need structure, youth need mentoring,
youth need healthy physical activity and youth need a positive and safe
supportive place to be developed. Doubly so for our
city’s troubled youth, our “youth at
risk”.
The Pan Am Everyone Can
program has been designed to meet each of these needs.
Manitoba has the highest child poverty rate in Canada. Many of our
community youth are denied an opportunity to participate in sports and
other positive recreational activities due to a lack of financial
resources. Doubly so for our youth at risk.
Financial barriers must be removed and outreach must be provided
through programs that ring true to this youth
group. The Pan Am Everyone Can program has been
designed to meet each of these requirements.
"Everyone Can" Program is part boxing and part
outreach.
Its
focus is on inner city youth-male and female. The main
objectives and strategies of the program
are:
- To
appeal and engage the target youth group
through the sport of boxing.
- To
disengage the target youth group from life threatening risks common to
our city’s core area youth: i.e.: gang-related behavior and
substance abuse.
- To
envelop each youth with a unique training program of amateur boxing,
through which each member will develop increasing levels of the basic
life skills (physical fitness, self-confidence, self-esteem,
discipline, structure, commitment and enjoyment from success!)
- These life skills learning to
occur, with an emphasis on healthy lifestyle, delivered through our
team of in-house coaches/mentors and affiliated
“partners”.
The Everyone Can Program
specifically recognizes the unique requirement that is needed to
provide female youth at risk with the same opportunity. The
Everyone Can Program is committed to developing a tailored female
boxing program to meet such needs.
