I had a moment to catch up with Tasha who completed our 2nd program in 2016. Here is what she had to say:
When did you start at Pan Am Boxing?
I started with Pan Am two years ago with the beginner female boxing program.
How did you feel after the Female Beginner Boxing Program?
I felt good about the program from the start. I was apprehensive about trying boxing and was nervous to start straight into classes. The beginner class started with basics and built up from there. It allowed me time to work on footwork and breathing which I find the most important part. The leaders were super supportive and classmates were great. I loved that there were people of all different ages and fitness levels taking part.
Why would you recommend someone participating in our program?
This program is a great way to try something you may have otherwise never been into or thought possible. Jumping straight into classes can seem daunting and you might be worried about ‘keeping up’. Even though Pan Am is a great community… the best gym I’ve ever been part of… it is an intimidating place to walk in to.
How often do you come to the club currently?
My week usually consists of 5-7 classes.
What is your favorite thing about Pan Am or the classes?
There are a lot of things that are “my favorite” about Pan Am. But if I had to narrow it down I would say the workout in general and the community/people. I was a lover of cardio prior to joining. My workouts mostly consisted of running. Pan Am is by far the best ‘whole body’ workout I’ve ever had. Combining the sport of boxing, with cardio and weight training has elevated my fitness level. Regarding the community at Pan Am, I’ve never been to a gym where I feel like I’m part of something in a bigger way. I used to go to the gym, do my work out and get home. I have found a community at Pan Am. I get to share this community with my family, which I love, and I have made great friends there as well.. It’s like my home away from home really.
